WAHINE WORK SMART
Doing What’s Needed
Are you a woman negotiating for a new job? Looking for a raise? Are you getting ready to ask for that promotion? Work Smart is a workshop that’s just for you.
Â
This team organizes Work Smart, AAUW’s salary negotiation seminar for working women, to companies, unions and government organizations.  Work Smart has partnered with the office of Mayor Kirk Caldwell, the Hawaii State Commission on the Status of Women, the YWCA and AARP to help the women of Oahu fight for better pay, secure a promotion or interview for a better job.
Â
AAUW Honolulu’s Work Smart will help you gain confidence to negotiate through a two-hour session of facilitated discussion and role-play.

Learning these negotiating skills is important because AAUW’s research shows women are paid significantly less just one year out of college. Currently, women on average earn about 80 cents to every dollar a male makes.
Â
By being able to confidently – and successfully – negotiate, you’ll be able to secure a better salary and help to close the gender wage gap, secure better benefits, pay off debt faster and save for retirement.
