Born on Guam, Serena Del Mundo was raised by her relatives in their family home.
She left to attend school in California, where she attended San Jose State University and majored in psychology. Serena discovered a passion for community engagement through leadership roles in many women’s organizations and research projects in health literacy and intimate partner violence at the university.
Through these experiences she realized the fundamental importance of access to quality healthcare.
This core belief led her to pursue a medical degree at the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine. Her time at Mayo was key in defining her as a physician.
Serena now works at Kaiser Permanente Moanalua as a hospitalist. She has the honor of caring for patients during a very difficult and often emotional time in their lives.
