While she’s a new member to AAUW Honolulu, Linda Mayeda has a long history with the organization.
A past president of AAUW Irvine from 1982 to 1983, Linda’s lived in five states and has been in involved with the Orange County Philharmonic Society, the U.S. Navy League, the Assistance League of Newport Beach, Calif., The Boy Scouts of America, and the Irvine Parent-Teachers Association.
Linda has two grown sons and has been married for 48 years to her husband, Dr. Samuel Mayeda. They met when she taught at Iolani School in 1968, while he was a medical student and she was a first grade teacher. Since then, she’s lived in Wisconsin, Massachuets, and Illinois (where her husband served as a Naval physician), then California where she worked with her husband as a bookkeeper at his private practice.
Linda and her husband split their time between Irvine, Calif. and Hawaii Kai, with frequent visits to New Zealand and Texas to visit their sons and their families.
