Save the date — Tech Savvy, May 21!

Tech Savvy, AAUW Honolulu’s premier STEM event for grade- and high school-girls, is right around the corner. If you know a girl in the sixth to ninth grades, the day-long career conference could spark an interest in pursuing a career in science, technology, engineering or mathematics! Sarah Hudgins, a captain with Mokulele Airlines, will give the keynote address to the attendees at Hawaii Pacific University’s Windward Hawaii Loa Campus on May 21. The day is divided into hands-on workshops where the attendees will have a chance to explore topics such as, “Computers, Precision Cutters, Art and Math: Designing and Creating in 3D,” “Doctor for a Day” and ” Scratch-ing the Surface of Coding”. The second half of the day focuses on “savvy skills” or skills they can use in their everyday life. These classes include “Understanding & Motivating Different Personalities”, “Leaving a Positive Digital Legacy” and “You’re Hired!” (There is also a program for parents, featuring STEM education and career speakers.)

Sponsors include AAUW Honolulu Branch, Hawaii Pacific University, Hawaiian Electric, Wellesley College, Maryknoll School, Microsoft, Mokulele Airlines, and the Pacific Aviation Museum.
