We need you! AAUW Honolulu is working to advance equity for women and girls in Hawaii and we can’t do it alone!
We’re working to help women attend college, build their leadership skills and negotiate for their highest salary. We’re building a pipeline of girls to enter the STEM fields. We’re advocating for change throughout the state. And we’re having fun and making connections!
You can help and build your leadership skills too! Here are a few ways to get involved:
Support a project: want to get involved in a project when you have time? Check out What We Do to learn more about our programs and let us know what interests you and we can help fit you with a project that fits your schedule!
Participate in a committee: committees are the lifeblood of AAUW Honolulu. Without them we couldn’t make an impact. Most committees meet once a month (virtually or in person) and committee members are eligible for leadership development opportunities offered by the branch. Check out our Committees to learn more.
Serve on the Board of Directors: the Board oversees the operations, finances and strategic direction of AAUW Honolulu. The Board meets once a month via video conference. Our next election will be held at the Annual Meeting, April 5, 2016. Click here to let us know you are interested in serving on the Board.
AAUW Honolulu is committed to supporting the development of our branch leaders. Board members participate in an annual planning retreat. The Leadership Committee identifies training and development opportunities available throughout the community or online. Members who participate in a committee, serve on the AAUW Honolulu Branch Board of Directors or serve as a Director of AAUW-SM are eligible to receive financial support from the branch to attend these events. Scholarship opportunities are available for member leaders to attend AAUW’s national and state convention, and NCCWSL.
